“Osprey” is a Wesmac 46’ solid fiberglass vessel built at the Wesmac shop in Surry, Maine by Steve Wessel and his crew. She is USCG certified to carry 38 people. She is powered by a C-15 850 HP Caterpillar engine.

“Osprey” was built for the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine and will be captained by Toby Stephenson who played a big part in her construction. Toby, Warren Kaericher & Corrie Roberts worked closely with Steve and his crew to be sure that controls, safety equipment, and electronics were placed to best suit the vessel’s needs and the needs of her passengers.

“Osprey” is used year round off the Maine Coast as a Marine Biology training and research classroom complete with a hydraulic crane, davit, and all of the necessary equipment for their research.

2016 - SUPER 46' : OTTER
The 46’9”x17’1”x4’11” vessel displacing 20 tons can carry up to 78 passengers and two crew and serves as the Isle au Haut mailboat. Built of solid fiberglass laminate, OTTER is Subchapter T certified by the Coast Guard.
Propulsion comes from a C18 Caterpillar diesel developing 803 hp at 2,100 rpm, turning a 32” left-handed 5-blade Nibral propeller on a 3” double taper Aquamet shaft, through a ZF 500 gear with 1.964:1 ratio.
In sea trials the setup yielded 24.2 knots at 2,070 rpm.
Fuel capacity is around 700 gal. in two 350 gal. fiberglass tanks, with two 25 gal. poly tanks for potable water. .
